S'Arracó
S’Arracó is a small and charming village, where the tranquillity and hospitality of its streets attract all those who visit it.
S’Arracó preserves the charm of the typical houses of the inland villages, low and traditional, with a small orchard or garden; although it also boasts examples of stately architecture, such as the various modernist-style houses, built with the money that the emigrants of S’Arracó sent from France to their families, most of which are located on the main street, Carrer França.
Also noteworthy are the buildings of Ca ses Monges, the old school, now the cultural centre, and the three traditional cafés, which are the meeting point for the people of the village. However, the main building in S’Arracó is the church of Sant Crist, built in 1704 by Antonio Ferrandell Verí, considered the founder of the village. Inside, stands out the Baroque altarpiece dedicated to the Santo Cristo and the altarpiece of the Mare de Déu de la Trapa, an image that comes from the now disappeared monastery of the same name. Likewise, in S’Arracó, you can find some testimonies of the rural economy, such as the old estates of Son Guillem, Son Joan, Son Castell and Son Nadal, as well as the mills that remind us of an agricultural past.
Hiking is the best leisure option in S’Arracó. The mountain landscape offers the opportunity to make interesting excursions on foot and enjoy wonderful and unbeatable views. One of the most popular routes is the ascent to the monastery of La Trapa. In addition, for those who prefer the sea, numerous spectacular sandy beaches can be reached within a few minutes’ drive.
